Front-End Developer

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Ideal candidates will be a creative thinker who thrives in a small-team environment and continuously looks to augment their skill set to remain up-to-date on technology trends and practices
  • Maintain and continuously improve existing websites
  • Create reusable templates and maintain extensible site styles
  • Work closely with the digital and design teams to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Ensures cross-browser compatibility, including a responsive web design for mobile platforms
  • Optimize applications for performance, stability, and scalability
  • Produce high quality responsive code through PR reviews and QA processes
  • Build semantic, accessible and maintainable front-end interfaces with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Accurately translate prototypes and design into working interfaces
  • Maintain and improve front-end code bases across a wide variety of projects
  • Translate business and user requirements into usable web applications and sites
  • Playing a key role in communication, project planning, and estimation of front-end tasks

Qualifications for this role

  • Able to communicate with non-technical departments; breaks down complex site issues in a consumable way
  • Ability to serve as a technical lead for team projects, translating business and design requirements into technical performance
  • Passion for learning new skills and technologies in rapid fashion
  • Familiar with user experience – usability and user centric design
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis
  • Superior problem solving and prioritization skills. The ability to consider a solution for right now, a week from now, a month from now etc. to strike the right balance to deliver value to users
  • Able to comfortably present results of analysis and recommendations to various audiences

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a front-end developer with a preference for candidates with more experience
  • Proficient understanding of web development technology – HTML5, CSS3, PHP, Webpack, and JavaScript
  • Proficient understanding of email development and best practices
  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser and device compatibility
  • Experience using Bootstrap and Zurb Foundation
  • Experience installing and configuring WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development and site optimization
  • Good understanding of design principles, grid layout and typography
  • Good understanding of SEO principles and best practices
  • Exposure to design tools like Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiar with social media integration utilizing APIs
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc)
  • Experience implementing Google Analytics and Tag Manager
  • Plus if you have an understanding of Craft CMS, Litmus, CDN, and caching technology
  • Experience with web server administration (Linux, Apache) a plus
  • Experience with Oracle WebCenter Portal and Oracle UCM a huge plus
