Every now and again our Smashing Editorial team gets requests for very specific articles on very specific topics. The aim of this Smashing Magazine extended section is to cover specifically technical, advanced articles on programming and coding — be it JavaScript, PHP, Ruby or programming in general.
We’re pleased to introduce our new contributing editor, Rey Bango:
“The profession of web development is in a constant state of flux. It was a much easier time ten to fifteen years ago where you could choose an app server, create some markup, sprinkle some JavaScript and build a site in no time. Things are vastly different now in that users want more interactivity, more functionality and a richer experience. This means that our tools need to evolve and as web developers, we do too.Finding the best information and resources for staying up-to-date is the increasing challenge we face. Smashing Magazine has consistently shown its ability to stay on top of trends and offer the web development community the absolute best and most relevant material for keeping up with our ever-changing landscape. From tutorials and books on the latest in development best practices to hosting top-tier developer conferences, Smashing Magazine has consistently demonstrated a commitment to helping web developers become better at their jobs, hobbies and passion.
This is why I immediately jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the publication as a contributing editor for the Coding section. I’m passionate about helping web developers be the best they can be and offering them the absolute best possible guidance so they can build the next generation of web experiences. Smashing Magazine’s philosophy and commitment to web developers aligned perfectly with this passion and opened up a new avenue for me to leverage their amazing medium and distribution channels to help you, our awesome readers, learn and grow.
I’m incredibly excited to be helping Smashing Magazine continue its long tradition of providing top-notch guidance, content and conferences to web developers and look forward to working with the community to meeting your ever-changing educational needs. And if you’re interested in being a contributing author, please don’t hesitate to reach out me at rey.bango@smashingmagazine.com or via Twitter at @reybango.”
